Celebrity Apprentice 2022: Lord Sugar storms off set amid ‘tirade of abuse’ from Darren McMullen

Furious Celebrity Apprentice contesting Darren McMullen has erupted at Lord Sugar, telling his TV boss: “I don’t need to be here.”

Fiery scenes have played out on Celebrity Apprentice, with one of this year’s contestants clashing with Lord Alan Sugar and causing a dramatic storm-off.

During the boardroom showdown on Monday night, Darren McMullen became heated as he argued why he should progress to the show’s grand finale.

“I was in hospital and all I could think about was, ‘No I don’t want to let this charity down,’” the actor and TV presenter said, referencing his recent absence, shown at the beginning of the episode. It was later explained that doctors believe he may have had a small heart attack.

However, Lord Sugar wasn’t exactly sympathetic.

“I don’t want to hear about your hospital anymore,” he replied to McMullen.

“What about the fact my bloody dog is dying and I’m here doing a dog task for you?” he fired back angrily, reminding Lord Sugar of his dog’s recent cancer diagnosis.

“Like I’m here, I’m committed to this show … You think I don’t have work, Sugar? I’ve got so much work, if you wanna fire me, get rid of me – I don’t need to be here. I’m here for my charity … Dude, I have given everything, heart and soul, to being here.”

Lord Sugar snapped back, “Don’t call me dude,” before storming out of the boardroom, describing the outburst as “ridiculous”.

Outside, he asked producers: “Do you think Darren’s tirade of abuse to me personally is acceptable?”

After eventually being convinced to return to the room, Lord Sugar criticized McMullen over his “fiery temper”.

“I think you’re somewhat disrespectful towards me and I don’t like that,” he told him.

However, despite the fiery clash, he was saved from the chopping block, with Amy Shark and Ronnie Caceres given their marching orders instead.

McMullen and ex-NRL star Benji Marshall will now face off in the grand finale.

It’s not the first time McMullen has been involved in a blow-up on Celebrity Apprentice.

Earlier in the season, he lost it at model Jarrod Scott after their group challenge went awry.

The challenge was to set up and run a food delivery service, and there was bickering within the men’s team from the beginning.

When Scott made the call to stop taking orders and shut the kitchen early, a Gordon Ramsay-style kitchen blow-up ensued.

“What happened? It was as***fight,” an unimpressed McMullen said, walking into the kitchen after delivering orders.

Scott then asked the actor to explain what he meant.

Mate, listen, everything was late, everything rocked up cold. You talked about a big game. You were like, ‘I’ve f***ing got this, I’ve got hospitality experience, you were sh*t last week Darren,’ and I’m like, ‘Fine go for it mate,’ and I backed you,” McMullen said.

“One of our team is probably going to go home now.”

Scott, remaining calm, replied: “If that’s the way it is, that’s fine but–”

“No it’s actually not fine,” McMullen snapped. “Why is that fine? I don’t want any of these guys to go.”

“If you let me explain, if you listen to the project manager and let me explain something–” Scott went on.

Mate, you’ve been [doing] nothing but talking and telling other people to shut up,” McMullen said.
